Car Accident Claim Antrim Northern Ireland

Karen’s Car Accident Claim Settles for £30,000 (Antrim)

Karen was driving her car along the Moira Road in Antrim when she was involved in a serious car accident. As she was travelling, a vehicle suddenly emerged from a junction without warning and collided with her car, pushing it onto the opposite side of the carriageway. The police attended the scene, and the other driver was cautioned for careless driving. Karen was taken to Antrim Area Hospital by ambulance.

Karen Contacted Our Car Accident Solicitors

Growing increasingly concerned about her injuries, Karen reached out to Paschal O’Hare Solicitors on the recommendation of a friend. She spoke with solicitor Christopher McAllister who promptly established that we could assist her in bringing a claim for compensation for the injuries she sustained in the accident. A letter of claim was sent to the defendant’s insurance company, and we secured an admission of liability.

Early Offer Rejected in Favour of Proper Assessment

Shortly after, a pre-medical offer of £4,000 was made by the insurance company. Our solicitor, Christopher McAllister, strongly advised Karen to reject this offer. He explained that this was an attempt by the third-party insurer to “buy off” the claim without properly considering the extent of her injuries. Following his advice, Karen decided to proceed with medical examinations before entering into any settlement discussions.

Medical Assessments Confirmed the Extent of Injuries

Karen was experiencing ongoing pain in her neck, back, and right shoulder, along with symptoms of nervous shock. We obtained her medical records and arranged consultations with a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Consultant Psychiatrist. MRI scans of her neck and right shoulder were conducted, revealing straining injuries resulting from the accident. The Consultant Psychiatrist diagnosed her with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) lasting around four months, with an Adjustment Disorder continuing beyond that period.

Successful Negotiation for a Fair Settlement

We served the completed medical evidence on the defendant’s insurance company. An initial offer of £25,000 was made. Karen accepted our advice to decline this offer. Our solicitor, Christopher, outlined reasons why the value of the case was significantly higher. Acknowledging our representations, the insurer increased their offer. Karen was delighted to accept a settlement of £30,000 in full compensation for her claim.

Solicitor Christopher McAllister Commented:

“We’re pleased to have helped Karen achieve fair compensation for her injuries. She went through considerable physical and emotional hardship after an accident she didn’t cause. By carefully documenting her injuries and holding out for the right offer, we were able to secure a settlement that genuinely addresses her needs.”
