Christine’s E-Bike Accident Claim Settles for £41,500 (Belfast)

Christine was riding her e-bike on Norglen Road in Belfast when, suddenly and without warning, a vehicle reversed at speed, causing her to fall off her bike and land on the roadway. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and Christine was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital by a friend.

Christine contacted our personal injury solicitors

Christine contacted Paschal O’Hare Solicitors after previously lodging a claim with the Motor Insurer’s Bureau (MIB) and receiving a compensation offer. Our solicitor, Christopher McAllister, quickly determined that the offer was too low. Christine was experiencing ongoing emotional distress from the accident, and Chris advised her to obtain a further medical report from a Consultant Psychiatrist before attempting to settle her case.

We informed the MIB of our involvement and arranged for Christine to be examined by a Consultant Psychiatrist. The psychiatrist’s report documented that Christine had suffered PTSD as a result of the accident and recommended treatment to help resolve her symptoms.

The Defendant reviewed the psychiatrist’s report but initially refused to increase their compensation offer. However, they agreed to cover the cost of the recommended treatment. Following further discussions with Christine, our solicitor Chris lodged an immediate appeal against the decision not to increase the compensation offer. Upon receipt of our detailed Notice of Appeal, the Defendant conceded they had undervalued some of Christine’s injuries according to current guidelines. An immediate increase in their offer was made.

Christine was delighted to accept a settlement of £41,500, a significant increase from the previous offer made directly to her before our involvement.
